Take responsibility for your own health

We’re a nation of putting all our responsibility onto others especially the health care system for our health. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be using it and I’m not saying we shouldn't have medical intervention, I think it can be awesome and obviously life saving. But, a lot of people are relying on medication to keep their “health” stable so they can continue to ruin their bodies with awful lifestyle habits and behaviours.

The worst part, none of you are fucking questioning it! You’re just accepting that you need to be on BP tablets or cholesterol tablets or long term meds for the rest of your life!! Wake the fuck up and do something about it. And the answer isn’t a “health supplement” either. It’s taking responsibility of yourself your health and your body and mind. It’s about feeding yourself the things that are good for you 95% of the time, it’s doing things that your body is meant to do. It's educating yourself on food and exercises and taking the action. It’s a shift in mindset.

Stop measuring your health based on some statistic that’s in a blood test within a “normal” range, normal is different to every person and people function on different levels. Sure they’re good insights, but just because you’re not diabetic (type 2) or pre diabetic, that doesn’t mean your not swimming in high blood sugar with a messed up insulin system that’s driving your bodies inflammation and aches and pains.

It doesn’t have to be massive change, you can start with small achievable steps, go for a walk, run, class, gym. Start making changes to what you consume. body AND brain. Maybe you could cut back on alcohol, processed foods, change your portion sizes, eating better, knowing what needs to be on your plate. Maybe you need to start getting your heart rate up or start resistance training. Maybe you need to start questioning everything, stop looking to others and start trusting yourself.

That’s what I want to help you build, actionable steps to start trusting yourself, knowing what you need and taking charge of your health and your life. It gets to be good, no matter your age, your injuries or any of the other reasons you’ve told your self you can’t. There are plenty of people that are and can. Start now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Start right now in this next moment.
